Dolní Věstonice

The village of Dolní Věstonice, which lies in the winemaking region surrounding Pálava hills, is a world-renowned archeological site. Local finds confirmed one of the oldest settlements in the southern Moravia. Not only the renowned Venus of Věstonice was discovered here, but also many fragments of fired clay, which provide evidence of the oldest ceramic production in the country. Discoveries that document the ancient Old Slavonic settlement were also uncovered in the surrounding area.
